Weder beliebt noch unbeliebt - also "inbetween" - das sind die Teenager Simon, Jay und Neil. Nach der Scheidung seiner Eltern muss Will die Privatschule verlassen und stößt zu den "Inbetweeners". Die uncoolen Vier kämpfen sich fortan gemeinsam durch den eher unerfreulichen Alltag einer öffentlichen englischen Vorstadt-Schule und stehen tagtäglich vor den Problemen, die Jungs in ihrem Alter nun mal haben: Liebeskummer, erster Sex, Alkoholeskapaden und Drogenmissbrauch.
